This batik is hand made by people with learning difficulties, most of whom would not be able to get work or be able to support themselves if it was not for this project. They work together for 5 days a week & get support from the centre. They learn both traditional & contemporary skills like Batik, Bamboo & Wood crafts. As well as daily personal skills like cooking, cleaning, writing, etc... The project is self financing with no other income apart from the products they sell. The local government support the project by providing two management staff, but unfortunately no actual financial project funding at the moment. By buying this Batik you are supporting this project & the people who benefit from it. Thanks.
