HS Codes

International Hamonised System Code:

We put 4 to 6 digit international HS Codes on all our Invoices. What are HS Codes?

183 countries (out of the 193 countries recognised by the UN) are signed up to use HS Codes, this helps to clarify & identify any commodities, products or produce, that are been shipped (exported or imported) between countries. It is used by customs for both clearance & taxation purposes.

The first 6 digits are the same for all participating countries. However, after that, each country uses a different number of digits to add further clarification for different commodities, products or produce. As we sell globally, to avoid confusion we only put the first 6 digits on our Invoices. As the extended digits differ from country to country, as well as the length of the number. It is up to you or your shipping provider, to add the remaining localised digits for each item, if required. Whilst your freight provider usually provides HS Codes, your government or customs website should also be able to provide you with your national code(s). You can also search for all International HS Codes here http://tariffdata.wto.org/ on the WTO website, or here http://www.wcoomd.org/ on the WCO website.
